The Brooklyn Women's Chorus presents Mother of Exiles "Voices raised in song and speaking out in poetry tell of the first peoples who walked to America, of those who came in chains, of the immigrant and migrant grandparents of chorus members, and of those who come today. Singing Emma Lazarus’ words “Give Me Your Tired Your Poor,” “Harriet Tubman,” "Deportee" and many others, the presentation includes over 400 projected images, including family pictures of chorus members, and an original script, written by choral director Bev Grant and artistic director Angela Lockhart, celebrating American immigration at its most hopeful."I sing with the Chorus and my poem honoring my grandmother, Let your life speak, will be part of the performance.
